Meta's Win + Publicis on šŸ”„

Plus: What to expect, Modi AI, and more

Hello and welcome to the very first edition of ā€œFluent in AIā€ -  your go-to source for demystifying the world of Artificial Intelligence in a language you understand.

The resounding success of my 2023 WhatsApp group, "Gen AI for Non-Techies," led me to start this newsletter. Whether you're an enthusiast, a curious learner, or a professional looking to integrate AI into your work, FIA will build your AI fluency, one newsletter at a time.

What to expect?

1. Weekly AI Tool Spotlight:

A thorough breakdown of a unique AI tool or application that we have personally explored. From detailed prompts and results to practical use cases, all explained in straightforward terms, to potentially save you hours of trial & error.

2. Longform Explainers:

Original or curated deep dives into topics like the ethics of AI, its long-term impact on your career and the society at large, or how AI is changing specific industries (e.g., art, writing, healthcare).

3. AI in News:

A section summarizing the week's top AI news stories in layman's terms, explaining why they matter.

More importantly, this is what I want to avoid:

Let’s get started with this week’s issue!

Meta winning AI?

More than a year after its launch, the results are more definite: Advantage+ Shopping by Meta works really well. In the words of Meta, ā€œIt requires fewer inputs during campaign creation, simplifies audience options and streamlines the creative management process.  It can automate up to 150 creative combinations at once—and Meta studies show that Advantage+ can lower cost-per-purchase conversion by 12%.ā€

The way I use AI is a battle with AI. Sometimes I use AI so much that it says, ā€œI’m done talking about this topic.ā€

Publicis’ Baller Move šŸ”„

Every year, Publicis makes a yearly holiday film for their employees. This year, they sent their 100,000 employees personalized thank-you VIDEOS.

The videos have CEO Arthur Sadoun wakeboarding, skydiving, and cow-boying away, talking to the employees about their interests and passions.

It might look like a great employer branding move, but it’s much more than that! They’ve demonstrated the team’s ability to deliver personalized content at scale, not to mention their ability to work with tech giants like Nvidia, OpenAI, ElevenLabs (for languages and translation), HeyGen (for training voices) and Runway (for video creation and training), to name a few.

Clients are already asking how quickly it can happen as a commercial offering!

Long read(s)

In 2015, I was too busy listening to Uptown Funk for the 4000th time to pay attention to Tim Urban. Naturally, I missed this brilliant 2-part series on Artificial Intelligence before OpenAI was even founded.

The articles delve into the concept of AI and its potential future development, discussing how AI could impact humanity. Despite being published several years ago, the insights from this article remain highly relevant.
